RAF Ramstein Summer Tour - Romagna 7's Beach Rugby - Italy

Rogues- We again are GO to send a team(s) to the warmth of the Italian Riveria again to play in the Romagna 7's Rugby Tournament. Though the tournament is not on the beach, its' 100meter's away or less. Here's the details: Dates: 22-26 May 2008 (During Memorial Day weekend)(Thurs - Monday) Costs: 1- Your airfare via RyanAir (Hahn to Bologna Forli)(Currently at 70e) YOU MUST HAVE PASSPORT TO FLY RYAN AIR - or drive there/11hours 2- Hotel- Approx. 130e a person for all 4 nights there (price to be confirmed asap, but will be close) (price includes breakfast at the hotel) (hotel is either on the beach, or 50meters away) 3- Other expenses to include are: -Airport Shuttle (cheap-we travel en-masse) -Coach bus to San Marino on Friday (Very Scenic place) -Trip Kitty donation to cover all the beverage we arrange during tournament and beach-time -Your lunch/evening meals -Free food at Social on friday night -club dinner at restaurant on Sunday night(~13e a person) 4- The club does augment this trip with funds, so many of these cost are supplemented by the club, and are cheaper than you think. PTDY is available to AF members. I've yet to find out who is the approval element for Army, or Navy folks. Any info on that appreciated. I submit AF PTDY approval 3 weeks prior, it's back NLT 2 weeks prior. If you are a maybe person, throw your name in the hat for AF PTDY, but let me know your a maybe so I can keep the hotel info'd for room arrangements. This is a 5 day trip over Memorial Day weekend. If your unable to fly on Thursday, Friday is good also and a shuttle bus is at the airport to Lido di Savio (tournament and hotel location). This is a great family and social time to go. I can arrange sitters for those bringing lil' ones, and most activity is within 400meter's of the hotel. If you want to surf and look at the hotel, use this website, and look at either the Hotel Rex, or Hotel Classic: http://www.azzurroclub.it/ This is a 7's format tournament, we need 7 players, 10 preferred per team. We usually send 2 teams there, each one covertly augmenting the other when no ones looking. The club pays the entry fee, and donates to the trip, this again is where your dues goes to. All players will have dues in order! The tournement is only on Saturday (26 May), itenerary of activity is as follows: Thursday: Arrive- rooms - beach/bars/down to Social village Friday: San Marino trip, back in time for 1900hrs Social Party Saturday: Rugby all day- Social party that evening with other teams Sunday: Recover, beach time/pool, site see, Club dinner that nite Monday: Eviction from hotel, relaxingly wait for 2pm bus to airport There is usually a 'costume theme' on the Friday night party. Last year it was Superhero's, years before Cowboys/Indians, Toga, and Hawaiian have been done. Since 'Elvis' is this years theme, I think it a bit tough to wear a wig/jacket, as it will be WARM then at night. Last year we blew off thier theme and went Hawaiian, it was worth it, was nicer, and everyone got lei'd... So, I have a FORUM topic on this website to entertain your suggestions and such. Explore some ideas and generate a 'how to make it happen' and not be expensive. Give it some thought, Red Necks, Hawaiian, Togo, Maroi' Warriors, Elves (i.e. to bust up thier Elvis them)... just some ideas. Vampire's? So, if you are IN, or a MAYBE, respond to this email and it will auto-reply to HotMail, and you'll be tracked then and names compiled. PTDY folks (AF), include your unit, and SSN for the paperwork I need. I have a 100% success rate on getting USAFE Sports, and AF Sports, to approve PTDY. You just have to sell it to your Commanders to allow you the 5-days off. We also do have a nice RAF Letter requesting your augmentation to the RAF Team going. (remember all- we are an RAF Team augmented by US Forces, we're RAF first...) Post some questions you may have on the Forum, I'll answer'em there for everyone's info. It is warmer there that here in Germany, it's just before the Holiday season so not many tourist are there, and hotel's are cheaper. Ryan Air is anal on weight restrictions, we have a contact at Aviano who's willing to recieve your rugby kit bag, and he'll drive it down from there and meet us at the hotel. I'll be getting a box together 2 weeks before the tourney to send to ensure it arrives in time. Don't be overweight on the plane, it's expensive... They do not have a website yet for the tournament, web info is a bit weak. So let the signups begin. So far IN I have myself, and Strawberry!!! Hint for RyanAir- The pricing is a rollercoaster, it goes up, and down in the months/weeks prior. I have booked my trips seperate from each other, i.e. if it's cheap on going out, I'll book half now, and half again when I see the price move to an acceptable amount. You can of course book the whole deal if the price is good for ya. Right now, it's 70e a person. 1 bag allowed check in, 1 bag carry on is all you get, 15kilo, that's it. YOU NEED A PASSPORT TO FLY RYAN AIR!! Get going if you do not have one, you have time now to apply and get it back to you... That's all for now. Learn Italian now... Big Al
